1999 All-Lankan Basketball Tournament

Rules & Regulations

This tournament will be regulated by CIF rules

1. All participants must have a Sri-Lankan parent (proof must be presented upon request i.e.: birth certificate). 

2. If a team loses, it will go into the loser’s bracket.  The next loss will eliminate that team.  Semi-finals are single elimination.  In the second round, a team from the loser's bracket and winner's bracket meet.  If the team from the winner's bracket loses, there will be a tiebreaker (both teams have 1 win and 1 loss) .  The tiebreaker is a 5-minute game played right after the second round game. 

3. First round and second round games are two 15-minute halves.  The clock will only stop for the last 3 minutes of each half for free throws.  The semi-finals and finals are two 20-minute halves.  The clock will only stop for the last 5-minutes of each half for free throws. 

4. Five fouls are allowed per player per game. 

5. Taunting and foul language WILL result in a technical foul. 

6. A player getting a technical foul must sit out of the game for 2 minutes.   

7. During the game, if a player recieves a techincal foul, referees will hand that player a yellow card.  A player that gets two (2) yellow cards in a game will be ejected from that game. After a player recieves his fourth yellow card, a red card will be given.  A red card disqualifies the player from the tournament's remaining games. 

8. A player may be immediately disqualified for the entire tournament for unsportsman-like conduct by the referees. 

9. Shirts must be tucked in during the game. 

10. All teams must be present 30 minutes before the start of the tournament. 

11. The tournament registration fee ($100) must be paid on or before the date of the draw (July 24th, 1999).

12. All disputes are to be settled by the 1998 tournament committee.  All decisions made by the committee are final. Any grievance should be put in writting and addressed to the SLAASC. 

13. Only two (2) staff per team can sit on the bench. 

14. Tardy Rule: All teams are expected to be present and ready to play by the start of the tournament (7:30 am Sun). If a team is not present they will be assessed a technical foul. The first tech will be issued at the start of play and more will be given for each additional 5 minutes the team is not ready. The game will be forfieted after a 3rd tech is given for tardiness.
